Counting continues across the state but while the outcomes for most seats are already clear, three electorates are still too close to call.
Lismore
Voting in NSW's northernmost seat of Lismore has the National Party's incumbent member Thomas George ahead with almost 40 per cent of the vote with more than half the ballots counted.
But the three-cornered race is complicated by preference deals between the Green's Adam Guise on almost 30 per cent and Labor's Isaac Smith, who has scooped up about 25 per cent of the votes.
Most election analysts have the seat as a likely win for the Greens and attribute the end of Mr George's 16 year reign to the Coalition's increasingly controversial support of coal seam gas mining.
The Greens are proposing a state-wide ban on the practice and Mr Smith wants to ban the practice from the Northern Rivers region.
Gosford
A more traditional contest between the two major parties is playing out in Gosford, which remained too close to call on Sunday afternoon.
Labor's Kathy Smith and the Liberal Party's Chris Holstein's vote tallies have wobbled around the 50/50 split in the two-party preferred tally since the count began on Saturday night. The coastal seat is part of the "corruption corridor" after allegations about former members were investigated by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
Ms Smith is tipped to win once postal, online and away votes are counted.
East Hills
The western Sydney seat of East Hills was always going to be hard-won, as it's the state's most marginal.
The Liberal Party's Glenn Brookes wrested the former Labor heartland seat from the party at the 2011 election with a majority of fewer than 500 votes, so the count will go down to the final few votes.
The Labor candidate, award-winning civil libertarian Cameron Murphy, faced an election-morning setback, with several of his billboards defaced.
