business awards

THE St Marys Local Business Awards are progressing — tickets for the presentation evening are selling quickly, and judges have been impressed with the businesses in the area.

The response to this year's program has emphasised the importance of local business and confirmed a strong community spirit within the area.

The awards are made possible through the support of NOVA Employment, Westfield Mt Druitt and Television Sydney.

The presentation evening will be held on Wednesday, September 26, at St Marys Rugby League Club.

Walk event aims to

dispel stereotypes

Clients, staff, family and friends of Northcott Disability Services are urging the community to see the person, not their disability, at Northcott's annual Walk With Me event on September 21.

There are 11 members of the Nepean POWERwalkers team, who are planning to dress up in fluro as they raise awareness of the abilities of people with disabilities and dispel common stereotypes.

Walk With Me Parramatta will be held along the banks of Parramatta River, 11am-2pm.

There will be activities and entertainment for people of all ages and abilities including interactive drumming performances, celebrities, musicians, face painting, a petting zoo, a chill-out zone, hand and head massages, free Domino's pizza and Mars Hill Café coffee.
