MUSICAL instruments not only sound beautiful, they're also gorgeous pieces of furniture.
Trouble is, if they're large (like pianos, drums and harps) they can overwhelm the living room.
If they're smaller (like guitars and saxophones), these beautiful creations are hidden in their cases when they're not being used.
Another problem is, when someone wants to play, they tend to use the living room, which tends to upset anyone who wants to watch TV.
But if you've got a spare bedroom, a formal dining or living room no one uses — or even a study — why not create a music room?
If you want to keep the sound within the room, hang some heavy curtains on the windows and put a nice thick rug on the floor.
Guitars can be mounted on the wall, or can sit on floor stands, as can woodwind and brass instruments.
Create the right atmosphere with some framed concert posters or photos and add some dimmable lights.
If space allows, why not create a small stage area, complete with curtains and coloured track lighting.
It'll also provide a natural home for the speakers and microphone.
Add a sofa or some comfy chairs to entice a family audience and you'll never have to buy concert tickets again.
