Parramatta resident Belinda Tupou was nominated in the business excellence and the service business categories in the AusMumpreneur Awards.
She founded her company Mind My Marketing after her marriage ended and she was left with two small children.
“To me it made sense to draw on my 18 years of experience in marketing and began a new chapter of my life by founding my own company,” Ms Tupou said.
She talked to the Sun about what inspires her, the challenges of being a businesswoman and what her greatest advice is.
What do you love about being a “mumpreneur”?
The flexibility I have created to spend time with my children and work in my own time. It’s given me the freedom to be an at-home single parent, run my business and continue studying a degree in business.
Have you faced any challenges?
A lack of time to fit everything I want into a day, means sometimes I lack sleep. I don’t have down time too often. I’m switching hats between mum, students and business owner all day and night.
Do you have any advice for mums thinking of starting their own business?
Go for it. Build your dream. Now I'm reminded of a quote, “You can do anything, but not everything” – by David Allen. A join amazing forums like AusMumpreneur to network and pick the brains of like-minded mums in business.
Why should people vote for you to win the two categories in the AusMumpreneur Awards?
I find I am constantly thinking of my clients’ needs, above my own business growth. A win would be an encouraging achievement and this would be just the motivation and support I need to promote myself and my business into the third year.
