The business-networking group Women with Altitude is launching at The Hills.
The network has established groups at Penrith, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains and aims to inspire, nurture and connect professional women in western Sydney via monthly member meetings.
Founder and chief executive Andrea Turner-Boys said joining a networking group was a good way for business people to be empowered to create more of what they wanted from their business or life.
‘‘Growing a business is incredibly challenging,’’ said the former Castle Hill resident.
‘‘What we try to do is be a sisterhood and help each other grow in a supportive and fun environment.
‘‘There are enough women out there being nasty to each other and to me that’s not sustainable, there is no joy in that.
‘‘We work a bit holistically on the personal development of women as well — you can’t build an empire if you don’t feel well inside.’’
The group’s monthly member meetings usually include a guest speaker and a shine talk where a member will share her story.
Glenbrook entrepreneur, author and chief executive Melissa Browne was thrilled to be a guest speaker at the launch event.
‘‘Women with Altitude was such a great support for me when I started my business many years ago,’’ she said.
‘‘Being a guest speaker helps me fulfil my mantra which is to inspire, empower and educate women in business.
‘‘I’ll be talking about why I think we need to start playing a grown-up game of business as businesswomen and how we can do that.’’
Annual membership costs $295, including discounts for events and workshops.
The Women with Altitude launch at The Hills will take place on Tuesday, August 18 at Castle Hill RSL Club, and will start at 6pm. Admission to the event costs $30 (members) and $45 (non-members).
