The Bold and the Beautiful star Katherine Kelly Lang aka Brooke Logan Forrester was at Floriade on Friday launching her kaftan range, causing mini-meltdowns among mainly female fans who told her they loved her and her show.
"I've watched it since I had my first-born 22 years ago," Ruth Whelan, of Reid, said, after snaring a photo with the star.
Sandy Murdoch, of Penrith, was celebrating her 60th birthday at Floriade and won't forget it after meeting the star of her favourite show.
"Every day I've watched it, for years and years, you know," she said.
The 54-year-old actress has been on every episode of the American soap since it started in 1987 and happily posed with her fans.
"They're so wonderful and all really supportive and they're always excited to meet me because they've seen Brooke for 28 years," she said.
"They either say, 'Oh, I grew up with you' or 'My mum named me after you' or 'I remember watching you from the crib'. Or some people say, 'It was really special because I was able to watch the show with my mum for so long and now she's passed away'. So people have nice memories to share with me. It's really sweet."
Kelly Lang was at home among the brilliant blooms at Floriade in Canberra's Commonwealth Park, showing off her side business, brilliantly-coloured silk kaftans. (After getting her hair and makeup done by the girls at Canberra's La Bimbi Salon.)
"I heard about Floriade, the flower festival, and I use a lot of flowers in the kaftan range," she said.
"We do our own digital prints when we design the kaftans. We come up with the prints, we put them on the fabric, we make the kaftans. I love nature , I love flowers,I love trees, I love green, ocean, all that so this is definitely an inspiration to see all these flowers."
Kelly Lang is from a Hollywood family - her mother was an actress and her grandfather was the cinematographer Charles Lang - but her mother, now 75, always had fashion stores as well.
"She had many clothing stores when I was growing up so I've always been able to see what she does and work in her stores and go do the shopping with her," she said.
Kelly Lang appeared on the very first episode of The Bold and the Beautiful and has remained there ever since, the soap shown weekday afternoons on Southern Cross Ten.
"I just think it was kind of magical from the very beginning," she said.
"Of course it deals with relationships, so that's always fun to watch, all the craziness that happens. It's a half an hour show so it's easy for people to watch every single day.
"It became really popular all around the world in 100 countries, 36 million people watch it every day. I think also because it's set in Hollywood and it's around the fashion world, it's very bold and very beautiful. It's easy to get hooked."
And there was always her long-running love affair with Ridge Forrester, played until 2012 by Ronn Moss, who shares her love of Australia.
"We both feel the same way. It's a beautiful place and seems a little bit more stress-free and more relaxed, down-to-earth, which I'm all about. And the people are wonderful."
A keen triathlete and ambassador for Breakaway from Cancer, which receives a proceeds from the kaftan range, Kelly Lang will be flying out of Australia on Saturday, competing in the Malibu triathlon as she gets off the plane and then riding a bike - yes a bike - to the Emmys with others including producers from Mad Men to draw attention to the need for Los Angeles to become more bike-friendly.
"So we have to ride an hour and a half to get to the red carpet, so I don't know how we're going to look. I'm just going to take off my helmet, fluff my hair and take a few pictures."
It's reveals a different side to the Hollywood glamour who is also happy to reveal her age, a rarity in the entertainment world.
"I've been in this industry my whole life and I don't know why people would lie about their age, especially now because you can't get away with it, everything's on the internet. It's all a frame of mind, it's how you feel, it's how you take care of yourself. Really your 50s are like your 30s now," she said.
She is also competing in the Hawaiian triathlon next month and has promised herself to slow down after that, saying there is only one way she fits it all in.
"I don't sleep!"
