Western Sydney Wanderers striker Brendon Santalab said there is a great vibe around the club as they prepare to kick-off their 2015-16 A-League season.
Santalab was one of Wanderers players on hand as the club held their community season launch at Centenary Square, Parramatta, on Thursday.
The Wanderers will host Brisbane Roar at Pirtek Stadium on Thursday, October 8, in what will be the opening match of the new A-League season.
After what has been a long preseason, Santalab said they are excited to finally get the season under way.
The Wanderers will be looking to put a disappointing 2014-15 season behind them, where they only just avoided the wooden spoon.
"It's disappointing on our behalf as players and as a club and we want to learn from what happened last season and move forward," Santalab said.
"There's no point dwelling on last season, it's a new year, new players and we want to get it started."
The new-look Wanderers squad includes Socceroos players Dario Vidosic and Scott Jamieson, Spanish trio Dimas Delgado, Alberto and Andreu and Italian marquee Federico Piovaccari.
Another new face is goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, who will be in a battle with Dean Bouzanis as the successor to Ante Covic.
"Any chance to play in the A-League, whether it's one game, two games, or 100 games, it's exciting," he said.
"With Covic leaving, it's a fantastic opportunity, but I'll just keep working as hard as I can and hopefully an opportunity comes."
He is feeling right at home being in western Sydney, where all of his mother's side of the family lives in Emu Plains.
The Wanderers have already met Brisbane in the FFA Cup round of 32 where they won 1-0, but Redmayne said it is a completely different ball game from what's been before.
"You can read into it as much as you want, but it's another game of football and every game starts fresh, so we're going to have to be pretty switched on."
