Petition passed on
ALMOST 4000 petitions from Mt Druitt residents have been presented by Chifley MP Ed Husic to Health Minister Tanya Plibersek.
Mr Husic said this was the culmination of a campaign he has fought since having the baton passed to him by former MP Roger Price.
"From the time I announced I was standing for Chifley in 2010, securing an MRI licence for Mt Druitt Hospital has been a priority," Mr Husic said.
Mr Husic and State MP for Mt Druitt Richard Amery launched the latest petition in June so Minister Plibersek could hear from those affected.
"I believe we have presented a compelling case, given our distance from Blacktown and Nepean hospitals as well as the reliance by many residents on public transport," he said.
People who have not yet returned their petitions can still send them reply paid and they will be passed on to the minister.
