A prisoner who escaped a Correctional Facility in Muswellbrook in July was found in the Sutherland Shire on Sunday night.
The 58-year-old had been on the run for more than two months.
He was found hiding in a kitchen cupboard in a house on Blackwattle Place, Alfords Point, about 7pm, police said.
The man, named in initial reports as Myles Fergus Wilson, disappeared about 2pm on July 24 from St Helier's Correctional Centre.
Following a search of the grounds and surrounding area, the man could not be found. He was reported as an escapee to local police and an investigation was launched.
Following extensive investigations, police arrested him and he was charged with escape lawful custody.
He is expected to face court on Monday.
