St Marys-Mount Druitt Police Beat-September 24

*Police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a unit at Bidwill this morning (September 24).

Mount Druitt Police were patrolling Tongariro Terrace shortly after midnight when they saw a fire in a unit on the street.

They confirmed no-one was inside the unit and evacuated surrounding neighbours 

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire.

A crime scene was established and is being examined by forensic specialists.

Witnesses have reported seeing a man running on the street a short time before the fire was detected.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious.

*Police have appealed for information following an armed robbery in Colyton on Friday night.

Aman walked into a business on Carpenter Street at around 7.45pm and threatened the store attendant.

He allegedly produced a firearm before demanding an amount of cash.

The male employee, 49,  fled to the back of the store while the man stole cigarettes before running away.

He was last seen heading north on Bennett Road toward Shane Street.

A white sedan was seen to drive away from the area a short time later.

Police attended and established a crime scene which was examined by forensic officers.

The man is described as of Pacific Islander/Mauri appearance, medium build, wearing a black hoodie jumper and dark tracksuit pants, and his face was concealed.

*St Marys detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting at Kingswood.

Two shots were discharged outside a townhouse on First Avenue around 11.15pm on Saturday (September 22)

Two people wearing balaclavas were seen running from the scene following the shooting.

A man, 24, and woman, 30, at home at the time were not injured.

Police established a crime scene that was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Investigations into the shooting are ongoing, however detectives believe it was a targeted incident.

*A woman has died after she was hit by a train in Doonside on Friday night 

Police were called to the rail corridor400 metres east of Doonside train station around 11pm on Friday, following reports a woman had been hit by a east-bound train.

Police found the woman, 18, semi-conscious between railway lines.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. 

Blacktown Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

*A man has been charged following aggravated break and enter at Lethbridge Park last Tuesday.

Mt Druitt Police attended a Lethbridge Park home after a report of a break enter and steal offence at the premises. 

They arrested a man, 27, inside a taxi a short time later.

Investigators determined the offender had also committed another breaking offence in the area. The man was charged with aggravated break enter and stealing, assault, malicious damage and goods in custody. 

He was refused bail to reappear in court at a later date.

*Mount Druitt detectives arrested a Plumpton man, 23, last Tuesday after investigations into a robbery outside a Mount Druitt hotel on September 15.The man was charged with aggravated robbery. 

He was refused bail to reappear in court at a later date.

*A Oxley Park man, 47 has been charged after detectives seized cannabis and amphetamine during a search warrant of his Adelaide Street home on Thursday.Police will allege the man possessed over 300 grams of cannabis leaf and a gram of amphetamine. 

He will appear at Penrith Local Court next month.
