Spelling bee finalist

Colyton Public School pupil Razm Ahmad will compete in the senior category (years 5-6) of the Spelling Bee state final in November.

Razm is one of 42 pupils to fight for the crown; another 42 regional winners will take part in the junior (years 3-4) category.

A record 123,306 students across NSW participated in this year's Spelling Bee, with 3241 making it through to regional finals.

Author talk

Australian author Peter Watt is used to writing about love, family drama and war.

Fans can hear him talk about these and much more when he drops in to Penrith Library next Tuesday,October 9.

The author, dubbed Australia's Wilbur Smith, will talk about his latest novel Beyond the Horizon, his passion for writing and where he finds his inspiration.

This event is sponsored by Get Reading Australia's largest celebration of books and reading, and will be held at the Penrith Library Theatrette, on October 9 from 6.30pm. Cost: $5.

Invitation to meeting

The St Clair Youth Neighbourhood Team invites residents and local businesses to its annual general meeting to hear about its achievements throughout the year.

The meeting is on October 15, 10.30am at Autumnleaf Neighbourhood Centre, corner of Autumnleaf Parade and Timesweep Drive, St Clair.

Everyone is welcome and a light lunch is provided.
