YOU can go fly a kite this Thursday, just like Mary Poppins.
Dawson Mall will be alive with colour for the annual Kites for Kids day, 10am-2pm.
Now in its seventh year, the Mission Australia initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood intervention and the variety of services available for children with developmental delays or disabilities.
Speech and occupational therapists will be on hand to answer parents' concerns about their children's development.
"The sky's the limit for all children," Mission Australia Families NSW team leader Julie Jasprizza-Laus said.
"It's become more focused every year, which means we're getting the right message out to families."
It's not all seriousness. There are lots of free children's activities including kite making and flying, face painting, wheelchair basketball, puppet making, jumping castle, a kids' gym and performers.
Washed Up Treasure will hold its quarterly Dawson Mall super sale stall, 9am-2pm, in conjunction with Kites 4 Kids.
There will be a great range of fashion, homeware, craft, gifts, linen, bric-a-brac and collectables at bargain prices.
Proceeds support the Women's Activities & Self Help House.
