TWO premiers from three youth league grand finals, a men's state league grand final berth and back-to-back youth league club championships — it's been been a season of more highs than lows for Mount Druitt Town Rangers soccer club.
The club has submitted a comprehensive application to be promoted to the elite two competition in Football NSW's competition restructure.
Clubs across the state had to re-apply for yet to be named competitions.
The Rangers currently play in what would be regarded as in the intermediate competition.
If their submission is unsuccessful, youth league teams will return to the Blacktown association competition.
Rangers football co-ordinator, Scott Payer, is "cautiously optimistic" of being promoted as one of Football NSW's top 24 teams, and will find out the club's fate later this month.
"We would be over the moon to be recognised for the hard work, not just done by the players but also coaches and people behind the scenes," he said.
"We worked very hard to make sure we meet the criteria and many hours have gone into the submission. We've ticked the boxes both on and off the field. We will be disappointed if we do miss out as it would be a massive loss for the area."
The Rangers have also applied to be in next year's NSW Women's program.
"We want to provide more opportunities for women and girls," Payer said.
Meanwhile, the club's under-12s have been knocked out of the Champion of Champions tournament after a 3-2 loss in extra time against Inter Lions.
It was the side's first loss in 2012.
