Retirees from Rochford Place have been inspired into doing some spring cleaning after a visit from one of the best in the business last week.
Home hints guru Shannon Lush visited Ropes Crossing retirement village to share her cleaning secrets.
It was the facility’s reward for winning a World Environmental Day competition open to Lend Lease communities around Australia.
Residents submitted plans on making their village more sustainable.
Rochford Place won with its plans to reduce the need for chemical cleaning products by swapping them with biodegradable natural alternatives, which included a presentation by a leading expert. A big crowd attended the talk by the best selling author, eager to get their questions answered.
Questions covered removing mould, moss, blood, chocolate from the carpet and cleaning fabric lounges.
Around three-quarters of the audience bought one of Lush’s books, which she signed.
Rochford Place sales manager, Carolyn Farbrother said residents enjoyed the day.
‘‘It was amazing, Shannon had an answer for every single problem,’’ she said.
A fine art restorer, Mrs Lush became well known when she started offering advice on stain removal on ABC radio in 2004.
She wasn’t the only special guest at Rochford Place last week.
Retirees put on their dancing shoes to celebrate the start of the long weekend with a performance from Elvis impersonator Nicko Arrones
