A man has been charged after a barking dog sparked a neighbourhood dispute in Willmot last Wednesday.
Two men became involved in an argument outside a house in Resolution Avenue which became violent when a man, 38, was threatened with a knife.
The armed man entered his house and returned with a rifle, which he allegedly pointed at the man.
A number of witnesses in the street ran for safety and police were contacted.
Mount Druitt Police arrived and arrested a man, 23.
He was refused bail and will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court at a later date.
Police awards
The St Marys Police Officer of the Year award will be launched today.
This is the community's opportunity to acknowledge any outstanding acts of courage, compassion, understanding or devotion to duty by an officer stationed at St Marys police.

The awards night will be held April 10 next year at St Marys Rugby League Club.
