FEATHERED Friends' director Ravi Wasan defies the rule of not working with animals, thanks to his collection of free-flying birds and reptiles usually seen in the outback.
Sunset the red-tailed black cockatoo, Ralph the boobook owl and Big Boy the bearded dragon made new friends at Penrith Valley Visitor Information Centre during the school holidays.
These and other animals are part of the Feathered Friends Wildlife Show at Mamre House on Sundays.
"The aim is to give the community a wildlife education experience when they can get up close with the animals," Mr Wasan said.
"They learn the importance of preserving them."
One of the stars of the Mamre House show is Kooper, the red-tailed black cockatoo who recently learned to fly and made his public debut a week ago.
The wildlife show is on Sundays at 11am and 1.30pm at Mamre House, 181 Mamre Road, St Marys.
Cost: $12 (adults), $8 (children).
