EMERTON Leisure Centre's indoor pool looks likely to be be shut for most of the summer for repairs.
Blacktown Council has proposed to close the 25 metre pool from December 10 to February 4 to replace the tiles.
Councillors are expected to support the recommendation at tomorrow night's meeting.
About 300 tiles are to be removed and temporarily replaced with plastic matting.
The cause of the lifting tiles is unknown but has been acknowledged as a construction defect.
Repair costs will be covered by the builder's warranty.
The centre's two other indoor pools and all outdoor pools will remain open.
Programs usually run in the 25 metre indoor pool will be held outdoors. Summer was the best time for the shutdown, a report stated.
"The anticipated loss of income for the proposed summer pool close period, forecast at a loss of approximately $25,000, is significantly less than the loss of income during any other periods due to programs being able to be accommodated in the centre's outdoor pools," the report stated.
