A teenager has been charged over the stabbing of a man who had approached the boy after seeing him urinate on a ticket machine at a train station in Sydney's Sutherland Shire, police say.
Police allege a 43-year-old man got off a train at Kirrawee Station just after midnight on Sunday when he noticed the 17-year-old boy urinating on the machine.
The man approached the teen and the two became involved in an altercation, police say.
"It's alleged the younger man produced a knife and stabbed the 43-year-old a number of times," police said in a statement.
"The armed youth fled the scene with a second man who was nearby."
After CCTV footage of the incident was released, the teenager handed himself into police late on Monday evening. He was charged with wounding with intent. Police say he was refused bail and will appear at Sutherland Children's Court on Tuesday.
A second 17-year-old youth attended Hurstville Police Station on Monday. Officers spoke to the youth and he was released with no further police action required.
The 43-year-old man was treated at St George Hospital but later released.
