Police are in the process of charging a man with the murder of his wife inside their Potts Point apartment in Sydney.
The woman, 35 was found dead inside an eastern suburbs apartment after her father called police with concerns for her welfare.
She was found in her ground floor unit on St Neot Avenue in Potts Point just after 6.20am on Thursday.
A 41-year-old man, understood to be the woman's partner, was being questioned at Kings Cross police station on Thursday afternoon.
Kings Cross Superintendent Michael Fitzgerald said police believed the couple, from Iran, have been living in Australia on bridging visas for the past four years.
Superintendent Fitzgerald said police were called to a unit on St Neot Avenue after the the father of the deceased woman received a worrying call from his son-in-law.
He said police had recovered what was possibly the weapon used to kill the 35-year-old hairdresser from near the apartment block's rubbish collection.
"We are not looking at any other suspects in this matter," Superintendent Fitzgerald said.
"It is alleged that the son-in-law told [the father] certain things which brought the concern from the father to speak with police today."
Police said the woman suffered a number of wounds.
There is no known history of domestic violence between the pair.
Police believe the woman was killed following an argument with her husband.
Superintendent Fitzgerald said officers were struggling to get in touch with the woman's family in Iran.
"That's why we haven't released any details in regards to her identity."
The husband is expected to be charge with murder on Thursday and will appear in court on Friday.
