Bowlers on a roll
Tenpin bowlers were on a roll at AMP Bowling Rooty Hill last week.
The sport celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Walter Rachuig Trophy tournament, one of the most exciting and colourful events on the country's bowling calendar.
Competitors included Bronwyn Robinson of Woodcroft, and Cambridge Park resident James Wood, who represented the Australian Defence Force.
The three-day tournament produced one of the closest and most thrilling finishes in history as Western Australia emerged overall victors.
The action continued on Saturday when the cream of Australia's bowling talent took on some of the world's best in the final rounds of the 2012 Australian Masters.
Australian Jason Belmonte clinched the title from American Sean Rash in the mens events while Chicago's Diandra Asbaty beat Californian Missy Parkin in the all-American womens final.
Historic first goal
Mark Bridge booted himself into Western Sydney Wanderers' history in their clash against defending A-League champions Brisbane Roar on Friday night.
Bridge, who grew up in St Clair, scored in the 19th minute to become the club's first goal scorer in their debut A-League season.
It was enough for the Wanderers to claim their first win in the 1-0 upset.
