Throughout the history of design, marble and timber have always been standard materials showcased in the home. Nonetheless, this year they’ve become a major trend, stealing the limelight away from coppers, rose golds, and cement finishes.
Marble and timber finishes can add a sense of sophistication and elegance to a home, and can seamlessly integrate into various interior styles, from hamptons beach style to ultra modern industrial style.
To keep up with the high demand of this trend, new and innovative options have surfaced to create the timber and marble look, considered the new faux fur of homes.
One example is Tile Mega Mart’s Geppetto collection in handmade timber mosaics.
It’s a creative idea where the timber trend is transfomed into wall art.
The timber mosaics can be used as statement pieces and come in a range of geometric patterns, 3D organic profiles and varying timber hues.
These wall sheets are made of natural timber that has been sustainably produced with Pinus Teada trees.
The collection represents the new gold-standard in wall decoration with beautifully organic shapes crafted by timber artisans.
Another benefit is they are self-adhesive.
Tile mega mart’s Design Director, Marita Blaschka, believes this new approach to wall décor will prove inspirational for a number of different installations from full walls to feature areas such as behind beds to replace beheads or as a backing to display shelving.
“While these timber mosaics are striking in their visual appeal they are also remarkably easy to install. The timber pieces have been precisely placed on a small panel, creating a mosaic sheet measuring about 280mm which has a self-adhesive backing. So no glues or grouting are required,” Ms Blaschka said.
Another example of a new product which bases itself on current trends is Dulux Duramax Spray Paint Effects.
The fast-drying Duramax paint can be sprayed onto bland home accessories, transforming them into striking pieces.
The finishes are available in Marble, Crackle, Copper Rose, Glass Frosting and Appliance White.
According to Dulux Colour Expert, Andrea Lucena-Orr, marble has made a resurgence in recent times and continues to increase in popularity with many accessories and furniture now featuring this finish.
“As marble is neutral and so versatile, combine it with pop colours and other decorating elements such as timber and metallics to create a stunning focal point within the home,” Miss Lucena-Orr said.
Available in black or white, Dulux Duramax Marble Effect can quickly achieve this look and add a touch of luxury to any room at an affordable price.
