A man has been charged after police allegedly discovered a cache of weapons, including an explosive device, crossbows and stun guns, at a house on Sydney's northern beaches.
The 44-year-old will face Manly Local Court on Thursday charged with 13 offences, including possessing explosives for unlawful purposes, after police searched the home in Frenchs Forest on Wednesday.
A NSW Police spokesman said officers from the Northern Beaches Local Area Command arrested the man in St Ives about 12.45pm on Wednesday and took him to Manly police station for questioning.
Later in the afternoon, officers searched a house on Jimada Avenue in Frenchs Forest.
Police will allege in court that, in the house, they found an explosive device, stun guns, crossbows, throwing knives, slingshots, laser pointers, a dart gun and 10 brass knuckles.
Police seized the items, which are being forensically examined.
The man was charged with 13 offences including four counts of possessing, supplying or making an explosive for unlawful purposes; possessing prohibited drugs; and eight counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
He was refused police bail before Thursday's court appearance.
