It's the stuff of dreams - being paid by a global sportswear brand to travel the world and do what you love, day in and day out.
And pro skater Jack Fardell is living it.
He's a member of adidas's global skateboarding team, based in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, and last year visited 15 countries to compete in pro events, and skate unusual and impossible locations for adidas to use in its global content marketing.
It's a job even a young Fardell - whose favourite haunts included the steps in front of Queanbeyan City Council Chambers and the Queanbeyan Woolies carpark - could never have dreamed of.
Fardell, 26, was "born and bred" in Queanbeyan and started skating at age six at the local skate park. He was a talented and persuasive kid - he managed to convince then primary school principal Paul Britton to let him skate through Queanbeyan South Public School after hours.
"I lived just across the road so it was pretty perfect," he laughs.
"I used to love skating through the school. we'd hang out on our skateboards in the middle of town in front of the library but we'd get hunted away pretty quickly."
At age 11, Fardell competed in extreme sports event The X Games in Sydney, and by 16 was being paid to appear at skate events across Australia. He left Karabar High School after Year 10 to skate full-time.
"The X Games was the biggest skate event at the time and then it just snowballed from there," he says.
"I moved to the Gold Coast at 17 and that was a great move - there's more of a skate scene up there and more magazines and stuff, and then I've pretty much been [skating] worldwide since I was about 17."
Fardell was approached by adidas in 2013, and at first his role was solely to represent the brand in professional competitions.
Today, he dons the three stripes and scouts LA (and the world) for new, tricky places to skate. His role is as much about marketing the brand as competing.
"Media is a big part of it nowadays with the internet and social media," he says.
"It's constant filming and photos so you can push the product all the time, and people can see that you're out there skating different countries," he says.
"Skating fast" is Fardell's defining feature, as well as being fearless and "willing to skate anything." Pause the video above at 1:49 and you'll see him perform a front blunt - teetering on the edge of a three-storey carpark.
Jack was in Queanbeyan last week to film a documentary for adidas on his home town. He caught up with dad Mick (now based in Mawson) and 23-year-old brother Bugs - also a sponsored skater. Jack gave some pro tips to some lucky kids at Belconnen Skate Park as part of an event hosted by Surf, Dive'n'Ski, who he is also a brand ambassador for.
"There are a lot of things I miss about home," he says.
"I miss my family and all the beautiful things this country has to offer really - it's hard coming home and then having to go back to LA.
"It's just beautiful here - it's crazy - you can't beat it."
