Today there is a stigma about germs and dirt, which has driven household cleaning to a new level.

- THE KITCHEN.
Many people believe the bathroom is the dirtiest place in the home, but according to the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), the kitchen has the most bacteria and fecal contamination including in the sink, benchtops, fridge and microwave.
Consider using antibacterial wipes and frequently replacing sponges and tea towels.
- THE MAKEUP BAG.
Many women might be surprised to find out their makeup bag could be one of the most unsanitary items in their home or handbag.
Makeup brushes are the perfect place for germs to thrive and could lead to skin and eye infections. These products should be stored in a dry area, while makeup brushes should be cleaned with antibacterial spray before every application.
- THE LAUNDRY.
When a wash cycle is finished, leaving clothes in the machine can allow germs to flourish. To avoid this issue, clothes should be dried immediately. If clothes are left in the machine for more than 30 minutes, they should be re-washed.
- TECHNOLOGY.
NSF found 68% of families had yeast and mould on the computer keyboard. Other items include mouses, remote controls and mobiles. Consider regularly wiping these items with disinfectant.
