Corryong’s main annual event, The Man From Snowy River Bush Festival, returns to the little town in Victoria’s north-east from March 30 to April 2.
As always, one of the most popular events will be the Victorian Bush Poetry Championships, which offers about $5000 in prizes and trophies.
The Man From Snowy River recital competition is always a drawcard, with three finalists performing for the crowd on Friday night at Banjo’s Block. Guest judges and performers include Graeme Johnson, Carol Reffold, Robyn Sykes, Geoffrey Graham, the Dingos Breakfast band and friends.
Geoffrey Graham will transport you to another era portraying Banjo Paterson and other bush bards, while Roger and John from Dingos Breakfast feature as MCs. They will present a selection of Oz music, poetry and yarnspinning, with the accent firmly on comedy.
Novice poets take the stage on Sunday morning, followed by intermediate poets and then the Yarnspinners. The junior competition is held on Thursday. A poets’ breakfast will be held each day at Banjo’s Block.
Other festival events include the Challenge to Find the Modern Man, Riley’s Ride, the Bush Idol song competition, an art show, dog jump, rodeo and trade and market stalls.There are also concerts featuring Wolfe Brothers and the Bushwackers.
Passes for one, two or three-four days are available, and caravan and tent sites can be booked.
