A man, 55, was in a critical condition after he fell down a flight of stairs at Plumpton High School on Thursday.

The man was found collapsed at the bottom of a flight of concrete stairs at about 8am.

He reportedly suffered head injuries before going into cardiac arrest.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter arrived at the school on Hyatt Road soon after, with paramedics already on the scene.

“A NSW Ambulance team had commenced CPR as CareFlight’s medical crew arrived to treat the man,” a CareFlight spokesperson said.

“CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic intubated, provided fluids and resuscitated the man at the scene.”

The man was rushed to Westmead Hospital by ambulance with a police escort.

Western Sydney Local Health District confirmed the man was in a stable but critical condition on Thursday afternoon.
