Born as David Lawrence Rix, Australian singer Lonnie Lee will sing some of his all time favourites and bring his high energy when he performs next Wednesday.
Busting onto the Australian scene in the late 1950s, he wrote his first chart buster with the legendary Johnny O’Keefe and went on to have hit after hit.
Lee’s recording career achieved a number of notable firsts including; the first Australian to have a full colour album cover, the first Australian to record a stereo album, the first Australian to have a double sided number one record and the first Australian to have a number one from an album.
Now in his 60th year in the industry, and still a force to be reckoned with, Lee is back to sing his greatest hits.
Best known for his tenure with bands Lonnie Lee and The Leeman and Lonnie Lee and The Leedons, Lee will perform songs close to everyone’s hearts including I Found a New Love, Starlight Starbright, Defenceless, Heartbreak Hotel, Mona Lisa, Are You Lonesome Tonight and many more.
With a natural knack of transforming relatively everyday songs into something special, his throats-a-rumblin’ and sharp shoulders twitchin’ to the rhythm style will make you want to bop along to the songs of your youth.
