A humble St Marys eatery has been named NSW’s best-rated winter restaurant at the 2017 Menulog Restaurant Awards.

Harry’s Cafe and Restaurant owners Harihar and Vikram Prajapati were shocked when they got the call informing them of their new title.

Harihar ‘Harry’ Prajapati said the delivery service had been a “big help” for the business during a tough period for trade on Queen Street.

“When we opened the business, there were people who didn’t want to come out at night time,” he said.

“We thought we could use Menulog to fix that. If they’re not coming to us, we’ll go to them.”

Brothers Harihar and Vikram opened the restaurant in November 2015, just before Queen Street’s controversial upgrade process began.

The awards are judged based on comments, reviews and satisfaction.

The restaurant has a four-and-a-half star rating on the Menulog app, after more than 150 reviews.

“We were happy with our comments but when we got the call we were cheering,” Mr Prajapati said.

He said the most popular items on the menu included fettuccine boscaiola, Portuguese chicken and chicken parmigiana.

Several St Marys businesses have signed up to Menulog, which unlike services including Uber Eats and Deliveroo requires business to provide their own drivers.
