Almost a week after revealing she'd be jumping ship to Network Ten, Lisa Wilkinson has finally addressed her shock departure from Nine's Today.
"It's been a helluva week. I'm only sorry that I never got the chance to say goodbye to you all... the incredible supportive, engaged, opinionated, clever and wonderfully diverse audience of Today," Wilkinson wrote in a heartfelt message on Instagram.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the fun years we shared, and for welcoming me into your homes each morning. It has been an absolute privilege."
Wilkinson's departure from the Nine breakfast show last Monday was so sudden, her former castmates were forced to address the "surprise" exit live on-air on Tuesday.
"It's safe to say we were all a little bit shocked and it will take a little while to sink in," former co-host Karl Stefanovic told viewers, while thanking Wilkinson for her "sage advice and calmness".
Indicating there was no bad blood with her former co-host - despite claims her defection was triggered because Nine management refused to offer pay parity - Wilkinson also shared a pic from her very first publicity shoot with Stefanovic, taken in May 2007.
"Look at us, we were babies!" she wrote.
Wilkinson is due to debut on Ten's The Project and Sunday Project in January.
