Researchers from Western Sydney University are interested in how being from a culturally and linguistically diverse background may affect taking part in preventative health opportunities, such as cancer screening. They are looking for participants who are female, over 18 and not suffering from any other serious health conditions. CANCER SUPPORT: Nepean/Blue Mountains Prostate Cancer Support group will meet from 6.30pm on Monday, November 20 at St Stephen’s Anglican Church Hall, 254 High Street, Penrith. The meeting will feature presentations from Dr Alan Oloffs, senior staff specialist at the Nepean Cancer Care Centre, and Greg Millan on bowel cancer screening. The group is open to males and their partners who are seeking information on this cancer, and who live in the Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith areas. CHANCE TO SING: The Sunset Station Singers meet at St Marys RSL Club every Monday, 7.30pm-9.30pm. The group, which performs in nursing homes, hospitals and at local commemorative ceremonies, was started by Vietnam veterans and has grown to include wives, partners and friends.
