Asked what coffee he drinks, Nobal Masri said “at the moment – a very strange one.”

At Plumpton Marketplace Gloria Jeans if you ask for The Nobal you’ll get a long black with peppermint syrup made by a lover of coffee who has been serving the community for 10 years.

“Our coffee is quite dark so adding the peppermint takes away the bitterness without making it too sweet,” he said.

Husband and wife, Nobal and Zeina Masri celebrated their 10th anniversary of serving coffee to the Plumpton community on October 31.

“At the beginning my wife spent a lot of time here while I ran another business – but I’ve moved on from that and I’ve been here full time now, since about 2011,” Mr Masri said.

Mr Masri has completed his degree in accounting at Western Sydney University in September but loves running his own business.

“I’ve always been a part of family business, I was at Allphones before Gloria Jeans,” he said.

“Basically my wife is here and if she’s not here, I am.”

The couple have plans in place to open up another Gloria Jeans in Hoxton Park.

The trick to this new store – it will be one of the first drive-through Gloria Jeans stores in the country.

“We were supposed to be the first but sadly because of some development issues in the area we haven’t been able to open yet.

“So we are not the first but we will have our drive through soon enough – hopefully.”

The store is anticipated to open in April 2018.
