The Blacktown under-13s representative cricket team are into the Gee Shield semi-finals following a five-wicket win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Blacktown bowled first and the home side started strongly with the bat but Blacktown hit back to have them 7-94.

Newcastle got to 145 on the back of a late rear-guard action before being bowled out in the 47th over to make it an interesting chase.

Abhaypal Singh was the pick of the bowlers with 5-33 from 10 overs.

Daniel Gauci ensured the chase was never in doubt by scoring 60 not out as Blacktown passed Newcastle’s score after 45 overs.

Unfortunately for Blacktown, the other two finalists lost their matches. The under-10s lost by three wickets to St George, while Newcastle defeated the under-15s by four wickets.
