If you went down to Oxley Park Public School on Friday, you were in for a big surprise.

More than 100 stuffed toys were added to the school’s roll for the day, as kindergarten held its annual teddy bear picnic.

Families and pre-school pupils from Oxley Park’s transition to school program were also invited to share in the celebration of all things teddy bear.

“Even teachers brought in their teddy bears,” deputy principal Mark Peters said.

Events on the day included teddy bear-themed performances and arts and crafts.

Mr Peters said teddy bear yoga was a hit with students, even if it left him feeling “a bit sore”.

“I think it will have to come back for sure,” he said.

Mr Peters said the day had become a favourite on the school’s calendar and formed an important part of the pathway for new kindergarten pupils.
