There’s still two weeks to go until the big day, but Christmas celebrations have already started in St Marys.
Hundreds of residents turned out to watch the annual tree lighting on Coachmans Park on December 1, marking the start the silly season.
“It was great to see such a sea of smiling faces as the lights on the tree were turned on for the first time,” St Marys Town Centre chair Alex Karavas said.
“St Marys is such a tight-knit community, the Christmas tree is our way of giving back to the community for all the support that they have given us over the year.”
Local dance groups and signing school pupils also lit up the stage, while lucky revellers took home early Christmas donated by St Marys retailers.
“They all put on a great show and helped add to the feeling of community the night had,” Mr Karavas said.
“It really was a community event in the truest sense of the word.”
Coachmans Park will be the epicentre for Christmas celebrations throughout December.
You can find Santa at there between 10am-2pm from Monday, December 11 until Saturday, December 23.
Santa’s reindeer will also be in town.
St Marys’ annual Christmas celebration event will turn the festive spirit up a notch on Saturday, December 16.
There will be live entertainment and children’s events from 10am-2pm at Coachmans Park.
