AN estimated 25,000 people attended the Living Smart Festival at Speers Point Park on Saturday.
The annual festival - held in conjunction with the Lake Macquarie Farmers and Makers Market - was again a hit with families.
There was a diverse array of stalls and demonstrations of everything from water, space and power-saving devices, to plants and natural remedies.
A major focus was on reducing food waste and food bills.
Author, blogger and wellness coach Sarah Wilson was a major drawcard on that front.
She launched the Bust Your Food Bills Challenge.
More than 370 residents signed up for the challenge.
The first 1000 residents across the region to sign up will receive a free kit to help them reduce their food waste.
