In a stolen gold car, a man and woman sped along the Hume Highway, threw a hatchet at police and led officers on a 100-kilometre chase from Mittagong to Merrylands.
That is how police allege Victorians Kristy Winslett, 38, and Hadi Taee, 33, from Dandenong, spent their Saturday morning.
Police said they tried to stop the gold Nissan Maxima on the Hume Highway at Mittagong about 6.20am, when it was going 130km/h in a 110km/h zone.
The car, allegedly driven by Mr Taee and displaying stolen number plates, did not stop. It went on to reach speeds of up to 180km/h, while the pair threw items – including a hatchet – at officers, police said.
At one point Mr Taee allegedly drove directly at an officer standing near a car, narrowly missing him.
The pair got out of the car at Morris Street, Merrylands, and tried to run away before they were arrested.
Court documents also allege police found the drug ice and opioids along with stolen Medicare cards and bank cards inside the car.
Another set of stolen number plates was also found, the documents said.
Ms Winslett appeared via video link in Parramatta bail court on Sunday morning, wearing a polo shirt, and looking glum. She was charged with six offences including throwing a missile at a police officer executing duty and possessing a prohibited drug.
Mr Taee was charged with 12 offences including police pursuit, reckless driving and using an offensive weapon to prevent arrest.
A police prosecutor said there were fears Ms Winslett would skip bail.
"This is a very serious matter," the prosecutor said. "What is of concern is what was said to the police by the accused – that she would be returning to her home address, which is interstate."
But Ms Winslett said she could stay at a brother-in-law's house in NSW and offer $10,000 in surety from $45,000 she had in shares.
Magistrate Malcolm McPherson granted bail and adjourned the case until January 17.
Mr Taee did not appear in court and did not apply for bail.
