Two men have been pepper-sprayed after allegedly confronting police officers who intercepted their car in Huntly.
Bendigo Highway Patrol’s Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said shortly before 11pm Saturday, a unit patrolling in Epsom saw a vehicle that was allegedly making efforts to avoid police.
Senior Sergeant Brooks said the vehicle was stopped not long after 11pm in Stephenson Street, where the two male occupants allegedly confronted police officers and were subsequently pepper sprayed.
The driver, a Huntly resident, was charged with unlicensed driving, refusing a breath test and evading police police.
He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Senior Sergeant Brooks said it was likely the passenger, also from Huntly, would also be charged with assaulting a police officer.
The vehicle was impounded.
